The different types of affiliate marketing

• Pay per click (PPC)

The PPC is the most popular type of affiliate marketing for affiliates with small websites, and probably the easiest way for them to earn money. In this type of affiliate marketing, the merchant pays his affiliate whenever a visitor is returned to its site, using banners or text ads. The affiliate is paid a lump sum, even if the visitor he has sent buys anything on the merchant’s website. • Pay Per Performance (PPP)

The affiliate marketing at PPP is the most popular among merchants and is also the most lucrative for affiliates. • Single Level, Two-thirds, and Multi-Tier Affiliate Marketing

These types of affiliate marketing are based on different levels in the affiliate network for which payments are made. In a single-tier program, affiliates are paid on the basis of direct sales or traffic returned to the merchant. All types mentioned above (PPS, PPL, and PPC) fall under the single-tier classification.

In the programs of affiliate marketing at two levels, the affiliate is only paid for the direct traffic or sales that he refers to the merchant site, but also on the traffic or sales referred by affiliates who joined the affiliate program through his recommendation. The multi-affiliate marketing works by landing the same way, although the member receives an additional commission for a wider number of affiliates in different levels of network affiliation.

Residual Income Affiliate Marketing

In residual income affiliate marketing, the affiliate is paid for every customer he has referred to the merchant’s website, but each time the customer returns, refers to the site and purchases another product. Compensation for this type of affiliate marketing is based on sales commission, percentage or flat fee.
